The Brief

Popcorn needed an identity that reflected its playful, inclusive personality and stood out in Chester’s competitive hospitality market.
The website also needed to communicate several different sides of the venue, from cocktails and live sport to private hire and karaoke. Visitors had to be able to find relevant information quickly, discover upcoming events and move easily into the venue’s chosen external booking system.
Just as importantly, the website needed to support Popcorn’s visibility in local search and create a consistent connection between the venue, its website and its Google Business Profile.
Brand Identity
Rove developed the complete Mettle Training identity, creating a bold visual system built around the idea of progress, achievement and successfully proving your mettle.
The identity included:
-
Primary and secondary logo configurations
-
A compact brand mark for favicons and digital applications
-
A distinctive black, grey and green colour palette
-
Branded typography and layout principles
-
A flexible repeating logo pattern
-
Light and dark presentation variants
-
Digital and social-media applications
The resulting identity gave Mettle a confident, recognisable presence that could work consistently across its website, learning materials, marketing and branded collateral.

Website Design

Rove designed and built a responsive website that clearly communicated Mettle’s training offer across desktop, tablet and mobile.
The site introduced the organisation, its audiences and its professional-development services while directing visitors towards the most relevant courses and learning options. Its bold typography, structured layouts and purposeful use of green carried the identity into a cohesive online experience.
The website was designed to support learners, employers, jobseekers and members of the Armed Forces, making a broad range of training opportunities easier to understand and access.

Online training portal
Alongside the main website, Rove configured Mettle’s external learning platform and created its online training courses.
Course pages, supporting content and the wider learning experience were structured and branded to feel like a natural extension of the main website. This helped create a more consistent journey as users moved from exploring Mettle’s services to accessing individual courses.

Content and marketing

To support the launch and continued promotion of Mettle Training, Rove also created branded marketing content across multiple channels.
This included:
-
Website imagery and course content
-
Social-media post designs
-
Email-marketing content
-
Presentation materials
-
Digital brand assets
-
Branded backgrounds and supporting graphics
These materials gave Mettle a practical content system for promoting its courses while maintaining a consistent identity at every customer touchpoint.

The Result
The completed project brought Mettle Training’s identity, website, online courses, booking process and marketing communications together within one coherent brand experience.
What began as a brand and website brief developed into a connected training ecosystem—helping users discover relevant learning, purchase courses and access training through a clear and consistent digital journey.
